This Great Southern 2018 Pinot Noir was one of my favourite tipples from my recent Perth trip. It was tasting down right delicious when we cracked it and my taste buds really loved it.

Zarephath are located in the Porongurup area (40kms north of Albany) of WA’s Great Southern wine region. On Naomi’s recent trip down south she popped by the cellar door where she was gifted this bottle (thank you Rosie!). I’m very glad Naomi brought this out of the cellar for us to try as it went down an absolute treat. In fact I tried to hog as much of the bottle’s contents as possible.

The Zarephath property was purchased by Rosie Singer and Ian Barrett-Lennard in 2013 and they contract Rob Diletti to make their wines.

After swirling it around for a bit, here are the notes I jotted down:

In the glass it’s a red berry shade with a magenta tinge. On the nose it’s wonderfully aromatic with hints of moss, red berries and cherries, baking spice, dark wood chips and bay leaves. It’s one of those wines that you keep going back for ‘just another sniff’. In the mouth it’s got a nice bold flavour with plentiful red fruits (and think cherries and plums) coming through, supple tannins and a lengthy finish. So delicious!
