Also previous note of 16 weeks ago. Very dark Ruby in colour. Minty, Dark Chocolate, Liquorice and Blackcurrant. Similar on the medium to full bodied palate. Wynns Black Label Cabernet Sauvignon has been a staple of the Australian red wine scene since the first vintage in 1954. This 2009 is the 54th vintage and the currently available 2019 is the 64th vintage. Amazing value for between $30 and $40 depending on the outlet. I paid $29 for this 2009. Drinking window from HH is 2017 - 2036 so this has a long way to go for my last 2 bottles. Next in a few years.

Coonawarra mint together with blackberry aromas. Cabernet tannins with a touch of bitterness - quite firm even though medium weight - tasting way younger than 13 years. The Wynns Black Label Cabernets have amazing longevity from their extensive resources of premium Coonawarra Cabernet fruit. One of the best value Cabs in the district The current vintage (2019) can be sourced for around $30. This 2009 will last until well into the 2030s.

Quintessential Coonawarra Cabernet.
An earthiness with ripe dark fruits, hints of rich dark choc.
Smooth and in need of another glass.
Sunday roast done right.

The Annual Wynnsday releases with winemaker Sue Hodder. This is the 62nd vintage of the Black Label - quite a heritage. This is a more elegant style from the cooler 2017 vintage following the warm 2016. There are black currant Cabernet aromas with Coonawarra mint in abundance. Sue says she likes to drink Black Label at around 8 to 12 years of age. I have had much older examples in pristine condition though.

Elegant and rich cassis and black cherry, cedar, excellent french oak flavour. Dry, mid acidity and mid sweet tannin. Slightly closer to great Rioja. Hint of aged bouquet and can age more. ABV13.5%

Inky deep Ruby with a lovely bouquet of violet, cassis, black cherry and licorice and a faint minty note in the background. Juicy black fruit - it's very much a fruit bomb and sacrifices some complexity in the process.

Violets, black currant, blackberry, plum, briar, floral pastille, eucalypt, leaf and cedar. Fine, ample tannins and lovely Cabernet acidity.

Medium bodied, lithe fine sandy tannin that stretches and stretches, leaner than previous vintages, black fruited with something purple/violet going on. Bought for $25 at dans, fantastic value, picked up a dozen :)
