Probstey Riesling

Glorious nose of apricot, kumquat, mineral, tangerine skins, mirabelle plums, persimmon and more! Wide open nose. Incredible spice and depth. Palate is chock full peach, apricot and more. Juicy and lean but also nimble and powerful. A lot going on here. Terrific intensity and purity. Man this is concentrated and deep. Amazing palate presence. Insane! I love the mineral force that is this wine. Epic finish.

Great showing. So minerally and dense. Barely yellow fruits on the nose and the palate is super crisp and dense with apricot skin and stunning juiciness and density and a long, mineral and saline finish. Just a terrific showing.

A perfume. All the better wines have a perfume in 2022. Persimmon. grapefruit, cardamom, clove, spice. Herbals. Stunning. Ripe but juuuuust ripe. That is a winner. 9.7 nose. Wow. acidity. Just an exciting vintage and what depth. Good dry extract. Long and so elegant. Edgy wine. Gorgeous and so pure. Such energy. So long. Stunning. Light and yet so dense. Really nothing like it.

Wonderful. Drinking so well now. Super mineral, wet earth, elegant. No formal notes.

Got Probstey? I do. What a showing for this wine. Wonderful nose of Meyer lemon, lemon oil and some sort of lemon perfume all on a bed of minerals. Wow this is stunning. 2020 the Thorle Rieslings have made a leap! Such depth, nuance and complexity to the nose. Some peach and apricot as well. Just insane. So so good. What a leap! Palate has bracing acids, huge power and depth while being ridiculously elegant and serene. Chewy depth with an epically long finish. Special. Needs to breathe and I’ll be back. Wow what concentration and grip. Just epic epic stuff. As this airs the nose becomes confectionary.

Ahh the glorious Probstey. Actually some fruit on the nose. Lemon. Meyer lemon, spice and expansive minerals. Gorgeous almost cloud like in its purity. Some bitter citrus notes as well. What a palate. Amazing Probstey. So pure, so delicate, so clean. Dense, structured and super nimble but this wine has presence. It walks in a room and you turn around to see who has entered. Unreal nose now. Sicko purity. Bergamot. Almost green tea. So so good. Young and structured but so much going on. Unreal suave structure and almost a tannic backbone. Long. Glides on the palate. Terrific inner mouth aromas. Unreal texture and complexity. Citrus and layers of other citrus. Balance is zen like. Really long, compact and persistent. Seems like it needs to open but my o my is it all there.

Awesome nose. So complex. Loads of limestone, lemon, lemon candy, minerals galore, palate is so so juicy and zesty with intense acids and lovely lemony citrus fruit. High acid and terrific length. Huge depth and concentration and sleek texture. Awesome richness yet so racy. Lemony citrusy fruit on the finish. Saline as fuck. Love this.

The latest version of the great Probstey “GG” Riesling. Amazing nose that shows the warmness of the site along with the intensity of the minerality. Gorgeous citrus, so detailed, almost citrus jelly, but dry, lemon, grapefruit, tangerine, gorgeous deep minerality backing it all up. Floral as well as it aerates. Palate is unreal. Deep and elegant with lovely ample mouthfeel and such great complexity already. Such balance and elegance. This is the most elegant Probstey ever. Wow. What a huge leap for this bottling. Concentrated and deep. Juicy and with young taut fruit but such intense energy and freshness. So linear and has great power and concentration but finishes with such brilliant finesse. This is top stuff.

So good. Nose has a sense of richness from the warmer Probstey site, minerals and some peach and pineapple. Palate is unreal. Thörle killed 16. Huge acidity and freshness and a wealth of mineral tinged citrus and tropical fruits. Sick confectionary aromas after a while. What balance, poise and length. Open for business. Complex and structured and will age but lovely today. Very very impressive.

Ripe fruit, peaches, apricot, piquant, tangelo, kumquat, closed as a fist. But length and balance, super fruit, super complex. Terrific. But closed and can tell it’s from a Warmer site.
