Sangiacomo Family Vineyards Chardonnay

Color me impressed. I opened one of these after @Mark Flesher mentioned he felt they were already strutting and he is 100% correct! Can’t believe this is a ‘17. Sure, there are youthful traits, but this is drinking fantastic. The aromatics are a touch steely showing white flower, lanolin and even some underripe banana. Energetic on the palate with Asian pear, stone fruit, honeysuckle, and a kiss of oak but the finish shows the youthful and gripping acidity. This will probably improve a point or so over the next 1-2yrs, but I have a hard time saying to stay away from these! Best enjoyed slightly cooler than cellar temp. Very nice effort.

I don't know how I managed to forget about these, but I did. Considering that I believe WH releases these chards way too early, I guess I subliminally stocked them away for another day. Tonight was the night to test drive one of these. Compared to an Aubert, Kistler or Marcassin of the same vintage, this one would most assuredly lose the head-to-head comparison. But, initially getting started this one had some rather serious acidity that blew off after 30 minutes. Nose was butterscotch and tropical fruit. The palate, however, was more mango and melon. Acidity was checked by a rather verbose middle which was more than I thought. This Chard has ample body. Not sure how this one would age vs. a 2015 Beau Vigne Reserve Chard that was opened by @Shay A . Honestly, those two chards in about 3-4 years would definitely show in favor of the Vigne Reserve. This wine has a nice finish and very nice acidity. Very surprised by this one, although nothing shouting that I need to order a case or two like with the 2015 or 2017. Almost glad I forgot about these now!

Waited to get home to try this one. The last bottle was corked. This bottle, not nearly so much!After the last bottle was corked, this bottle was opened the next night. Poured a light straw color. Nose of lemon and herbed buttered popcorn. The entry was acidic and dominated by lemon and Asian pear. Middle of this wine is where the buttered popcorn and kernel notes kicked in. The wine finishes rather acidic, but with good weight and density. I still think this one has quite a few years left in it. The next one to drink is the last 2013 for sure. Drink or hold this one another 3 to 5 years.

Old world shit

Outdid a 2012 Puligny Montrachet. White flowers, peach, hint of herbal on the nose. Entry is full bodied. Peach, mango, melon, hint of butterscotch. Finished with a nice rounded character but also with just enough of a bite that it made the tongue sting. Ample character. Great balance. But, ready to drink now. Very happy with this one. This is the last one of these that I have and I think I finally timed it right!

Well balanced, should age to develop its complexity.

Very stunning display. Impressed. Best Chard from Harrison hands down. Very young. Dense backbone with a more steely front. Sharp acidity on the front with peach, Asian pear, stone ground fruit. Herbal middle. The finish is more viscous. Full of perfume, wildflowers, herbs. Delicious. Glad I have a little stockpile of these!

Visited the winery - loved all of their wines. This Chardonnay did not disappoint. Neutral, subtle creaminess. Yum 😋

An acidic and mineral driven Chardonnay. Poured a light straw color into the glass. The nose was mostly lemon meringue. Entry still has very bright acidity. Lemon dense but also quite a bit of pear notes. Acidic and mineral finish.
