This is Englar's 2020 riserva Baltasius. Honestly, this smells like the grapes were harvested during a forest fire, but reading the vintage notes it was anything but with lots of rain. I like funky, earthy wines, so I appreciate this but others may not. Smokiness leaves the glass over time, giving way to an herbal, woody bouquet overlaying black cherry, dolostone, and eucalyptus.

Pinot should be memorable and this excels at that. Good body on this but still reflects Sudtirol's cool climate.
