Thörnicher Ritsch Alte Reben Riesling Auslese

This is such an awesome wine. Nose is a bit reticent out of the gates as it was too cold but starts to develop tropical fruit. Pineapple, guava, mango, yellow plum and gorgeous minerals. Palate is super crisp and has icing on cake texture and had gloriously precise and deep fruit. Well defined and so clear. Sappy and so long. Majestic. Aristocratic. So elegant and concentrated with just thunderous acidity and unreal lime/strawberry on the finish. Incredible!

Haven’t had in about a year. Awesome nose. Honeyed and dense. Layered. Apricot, citrus, huge minerals and slate. Lemon, lime, so so complex. Some funk as well. Herbs and scents of nature. Genius nose. Ridiculous palate. So deep, so complex and so well shaped. Unreal texture and depth. This is drinking amazing. Wow. Incredible freshness and acidity. Really pure. Palate is so textured and then so citrusy! Finish is electric! Incredible.

The one and only! Just a genius wine. Nose is super herbal off the bat. A hint of creaminess. Really complex and just stunningly clean and vivid. I love Auslese. Wow what a palate. Engaging and intense. But filigreed and super light and elegant. Sappy and pure. Electric acids and wonderful sappy fruit and just unreal minerality. Finishes dry with a hint of foie gras which is classic Mosel Auslese character. Just a superb wine. Finishes salty, slatey and with lots of lime rock candy. Superb!

The acid in this wine is bonkers. Just bonkers. Nose of lemon curd, slate, savory, minerals, confectionary, so so clean, some Vulcanized rubber which I love on my Mosel sweet wines. Rainwater. Glorious, epic palate of insane acids and dazzling green apple fruit, purity and freshness. So so so youthful. Still so utterly primary. Amazing texture and mouthfeel and so so savory on the finish. This is just incredible, energetic and genius Auslese. So so complex. 50+ years ahead of it. This tastes like freshly bottled 2019 Auslese. Devastating wine.

I love this vintage in the Mosel. Classic yet overlooked for the more slutty 05’s and 03’s. Nose has some aged character but starts off restrained with some lemon, slate and hints of mushroom. Some honey and along with a foie gras savoriness as well. What a palate. Honeyed, rich, savory and elegant with terrific freshness. Opens up on the nose with green tea and some lavender. Really rich and decadent with a icing on the cake like texture. So pure, deep and sweet with such a dramatic palate presence. Awesome.

@Delectable Wine this is the “Alte Reben.” Thanks. Sick wine. Ludes is a top estate in the Mosel. There is no doubt in my mind. Gorgeous herbs. Super floral. Wow. Just sick. Also ripe apricot, kumqwat and a savory element. Mint, smoke, slate. Just so so crazy complex. Wow. 9.7 for nose. These Auslesen from Ludes are the bomb. Outrageous palate. Wow. Just superb richness and acids. Wow those acids, then sweet lime and rock pulverize your palate. Amazing refinement and delicacy here. And just prodigious acids.

Just concluded the annual Fall seclusion at our cabin in the Rangeley lakes region of Maine, mobile service up there is mostly non-existent, after several days I am posting again.
