Aug 25th, 2013Light hay colored with little tinges of silver. On the nose you’ll get Granny Smith apples, pears, a little kiwi, and minerality. This is one of the best combinations of fun and elegance that I’ve found in a Grüner Veltliner. This 18 is so very young and it shows but it’s still mature enough to go. Very creamy on the mid palate with some round acidity. Air definitely improves things and on the second day it’s downright lush. Very dry, the round acid and texture really takes her to the next level. Honeydew, white pepper, and honey on the palate initially, with grapefruit and smoke coming to play.

A refreshing take on GV. Apples & honeydew out in front without as much trademark green pepper. Aromatics show hints of honey accenting the fruit. This picks up weight & becomes rounder with air. Texture & acid adds complexity here. Very good bottle of GV.
