Yesterday’s Wednesday Wine Committee, hosted by @Jeff Meyer , was so educational with fantastic German & Austrian wines. 1 sparkler, 5 whites, 5 reds, 1 dessert wine. All served blind as usual.
This was my runner up for red of the day. Looked like Sonoma pinot based on color. Sweetened and candied black cherry aromatics with even some sandalwood, but very herbal and earthy on the palate. Spiced red fruits and bitter root. I called this Spätburgunder.
