Good but also very awkward. Seems closed. All fruit skins on the palate. Almost a fruit roll up vibe. Good acid and density and super mineral and fresh but structured and closed. Terrific length. Let’s see.
After a few hours the fruit flesh has developed from the fruit skin. The nose has become more honeyed. It’s dense as can be but fresh and energetic. This is as big a Hergott as there was. Almost a 9.5.

This is in a great place as 14’s across Germany are drinking great. Nose of honeysuckle, melon, apricot, lime zest, stunning and vast minerality and whiffs of limestone. Wow, palate is wonderful, textured, barely fleshy and focused with fleshy/pithy apricot and peach fruit. Laser focused and lovely minerality. Sappy and mouthwatering. Lovely concentration and super intense minerality. 60% minerals and 40% fruit. Love it.

Juicy and so clean. Unreal. So pure. Sappy and dense. Balanced and long. This has serious stuffing. What a wine. Perfect ripeness balanced with scintillating minerality and energy. Chewy. Wonderful. After some air one gets lost in the nose and aroma. Dizzying. The best honeyed aromas. Pitted fruits now and more incisive minerality. So long. A stunner.

Seems closed but it’s all there on the lingering honeyed finish. Balanced, pure and complex. Amazing purity. Needs 3-4 years I think.

Jan 28th, 2020What a nose. I love 15 here and decided to check in. Huge mineral and honeysuckle. Acacia and so floral. So wonderful. Palate is ripe and rich with scintillating 2015 acids and an amazing dense mouthfeel and texture. Huge structure and explosiveness while also being refined and superbly mineral throughout. Juicy and honeyed with a hint of nougat on the finish. So pure balanced and long. Stunning. Just a zen like balance here and the wine vibrates on your palate.

Sep 19th, 2019Haven’t had a 14 GG in a minute. Big limestone nose, some honeysuckle, lime zest, very mineral. Smoke, leather, really wide wide open. Luscious peach pith. Great nose. Palate is big and chewy and obviously young with tangy citrus, terrific fruit impact and precision and lovely purity like a mountain stream. Big and dense like Hergott is and extraordinarily juicy and piquant. Terrific concentration and density. Finish does not quit.
