Purple red, medium pigment extraction, very good clarity. Barrel wood, cherry fruit leather notes in nose. Tart layered bing cherry flavor with length and slightly bitter seed tannin, mild skin astringency on finish. Good acidity and structure, lovely, well-defined contrasting skin tannin texture with rounded mouthfeel. Very nice wine, well balanced display of fruit and tannins. Age worthy, but drinkable enough now. Decant a couple of hours; you’ll be rewarded by greater depth and length of cherry flavor. A gift from my brother, for which I am indeed grateful.

Ok, full disclosure: I collaborate with Erica and Ken of Walter Scott. This reminds me of Nuits St. Georges Les Boudots: red cherry, cranberry-spice aromas; with excellent grip and acid tension framing the strawberry-rhubarb flavors. Long finish. Impressive and a surprise to me as I’ve found the OR 14’s more approachable.
