Russian River Valley Pinot Noir

I have consistently said, if this is not the best, it’s one of the very best Ca Pinot producers for the money. If my memory is still good, I think this was $38ish.

This 18 is the first look of six. It is drinking nicely but will still ascend for another five yrs. When that occurs, add a point, maybe two.

The nose shows a dark core of blackberries, spiced plum, strawberries, cherries and pomegranate. Cinnamon, clove, light nutmeg, vanillin, sweet, forest floor with dry leaves, dry & moist herbaceous notes, tree sap with some bark, withering & slightly candied; dark, red flowers, red & pink roses wrapped in violets.

The body is round, lush and the experience is almost Burgundian. Ripe; dark cherries, blackberries, strawberries, plum and hovering blueberries. Dark spice with expansive, circular mouth heat, tree sap, eucalyptus, moist & dry herbs, moist, volcanic laced clay, limestone chalkiness, dry crushed rocks, clove, nutmeg, cinnamon & vanilla, mid berry cola/licorice, some char of grilled meats, tobacco, leather, oak shavings, slightly candied & floral; dark, red flowers, red & pink roses wrapped in violets, grand, round acidity and a finish that is well balanced/structured, good tension & length with a round elegant finish that lasts nearly two-minutes.

Good fruit, good earth tones, some mushrooms and forest floor hints… good acidity!

Earthy, overripe berries, med. high acidity. Lovely. Opens up in a glass after about 10-15 minutes.

2015. Bought at Lower Falls Wine. Drank with Lynn. Coravin’d on 9/7/18 and uncorked/finished on 9/10/18. Excellent fruit. Full bodied. Big, beautiful wine.

This was my personal favorite of the night. Full bodied, rich Pinot. Thanks to Weston Eidson for providing.

Rating this on night three. Night two was probably my favorite. Fruit faded a bit tonight but still excellent overall. Dark red fruit, maybe cherry. Structured nicely and just a little bit of tannin. Very long finish. Probably 60 minutes in the glass before drinking.

The hits continue! Another brilliant wine from Walter. Paired with tuna.

Very up front, kinda smokey

Fruit, smoke, crushed berry nose. Red berry, rasp koolaid mix, mushroom, dried leaves, and a heathy dose of oak. Good acid on this. The finish okay, there is a little metallic tinge mixed in with creamy fruit. Better on day 2

Smell- beef jerky, earth notes. Strong for a Pinot, not watery, ver balanced, very long finish. Delicious!
