Voyage 3 Red Schooner Malbec
The taste of a Malbec but very Caymus creamy style.

Typical raucous Caymus juice. Crowd-pleasing sweetness. Smooth, polished and lithe. Way too rich to drink the whole bottle, but good for a few glasses. If you like understated wines, give this a wide berth.

Mar 15th, 2017Here is an interesting effort by Caymus Vinyards, shipping grapes from Argentina, at the slops of the Andes Mountains.
Deep inky in color with a dark purple rim.
Strong nose of blackberries, figs, vinegar, alcohol, acetone, earth, leather, vegetables, metals, oak, licorice, chocolates, tobacco, herbs, spices and black pepper.
Medium to full bodied with medium acidity and long legs.
Fruity on the palate, and dry to off dry, with black currants, cherries, blackberries, sweet plums, coffee, dark chocolates, tobacco, herbs, spices, acetone, licorice, vanilla, earth, leather and black pepper.
Long finish with soft tannins and peppercorn.
An above average Red Blend, that is enjoyable by itself or with food.
Balanced with nice acidity, smooth and elegant. Doesn't feel like a Malbec, and definitely not from Argentina. Very enjoyable, nonetheless. Would probably be better in a few years from now.
Better right out of the bottle. As it opens up, weird taste of acetone and vegetables show up.
A Good party wine, but not worth the $55 I paid...
Aged for 15 months in 50% French oak barrels.
14.2% alcohol by volume.
