My first wine from the Maranges AOC, the southernmost area of the Cote de Beaune. Very fruit forward with dominant black fruit on the nose and palate. I detected a slight note of peat also. The alcohol is slightly hot but comes down nicely in the finish and the tannins are present and pleasant. Great with food and truly exudes it's southern Burgundy terroir.

Mar 4th, 2017Spice and fecund earth on the nose. Crazy good fruit on first blush (think blackberry tempered by blueberry). Hold this wine in your mouth and let it drizzle it's finish down your throat then vanish (very cool). I enjoyed this with wilted spinach and an aged and very rare filet mignon (food kudos to Soundside, in Mirehead City, NC; their steaks compete with the best in this state). I think the perfect pairing would be mushrooms... Salute
