This Carmenere from Chile did not see any oak. Initially, it was hard to distinguish this from a Loire Cabernet Franc with its funky green notes. After the wine got a little more time to breathe, mellower notes of dark fruit and chocolate started to dominate.

Some pretty sexy and spicy Carmenere. Lighter than most, not overextracted, very herbaceous and just that right tip of the tongue spice to pique the palate. 2014 vintage.
