A gift from Cris Cherry when I was out in Paso for my 50th birthday (which was an AWESOME celebration thanks to my wife and some dear friends who mean everything to me), this is the first Villa Creek that I ever had (at Cris' restaurant). Amazed at the intensity of the fruit still present (maybe a function of the screwcap?), this wine was way more impressive than I was expecting for a 12+-year-old wine. Definitely past peak but still boasting terrific flavors and balance, this is a great example of why Paso is the most exciting wine region to explore in California!
