This wine pours a light, clear ruby red. The nose is light with some smells of herbs and maybe tomato. The flavors are mild with maybe a bit of strawberry and possibly plum. I am a fan of Amarone, and this was my first formal outing with ripasso valpolicella. Because I didn’t know what I was doing it was completely overwhelmed by the prime ribeye the first night. Then it did go well with the roasted chicken breast the next night. I can see having this in general to go with roasted white meats, as other reviewer‘s have noted. But I probably won’t be going out of my way to get it again.

Strong Green Pepper, almond with the first tip of this glass.

Raspberry, forest floor, decaying prune.
Chocolate and tabac, long, wooden spoon finish.

This is not a great ripasso, and if it weren’t for that prune in there I would call shenanigans. It is a good wine nonetheless, yet ripasso commands more duckets these days, and if there asking, it should be good..
I will say for a wine it is good. And leave it at that.
