The nose reveals; sweet vanillin, ripe, blackberries, dark cherries, floral blueberries, creamy, blackberries & black plum skin. Black licorice notes, granitic soils, light tobacco leaf, dry stone, light fresh herb notes, dry brush, soft leather with fresh red/blue and violet flowers.

The entry is ripe and juicy and evolves into big, dry, powdery tannins with deep, dark spice that sets on the palate with heat. Ripe, blackberries, dark cherries, floral blueberries, creamy, blackberries, black & plum skin. Black licorice notes, vanillin, granitic soils, light tobacco leaf, dry stone, light fresh herb notes, dry brush, soft leather with fresh red/blue and violet flowers. The acidity is like rainfall. The elegant, ripe, lush, polished, well balanced finish is delicious. Very luxurious mouthfeel.

2 hour decant. Clear deep inky purple color and full bodied with high acidity. Clean medium intensity nose of dark bramble fruit, anise and earth notes. Black berry, anise, leather and earth on the palate leading to a smooth moderately tannic finish. Drinking very well and paired superbly with the home smoked brisket we had for dinner.

Blind Friday night tasting at home after traveling all week. This is the sixth wine of the tasting. Dark garnet red with lighter edges. Layered nose with damp forest floor and red berries. Medium tannins (6/10) and medium to medium plus bodied. Very well integrated with spices, dark damp earthy notes, mushrooms and blackberries. Long and lingering finish. WOTN. Drink till 2022.

Still kicking but I treaded carefully, avoiding a decanter. Green, vegetal and herbaceous notes pop in the nose. Pepper, green pepper, herbs. Flavors of subtle fruit and bell pepper. French oak was really pronounced and a bit overweight.
