Nice wine with great aromas of fig, chocolate, blackberry, and raisins. Great mouthfeel and a smooth tannins. Get a little alcohol.

Off dry. Dark desiccated red and black fruits. Fig and prune and cassis. Oak spices. Earth. Minerality. High acidity, high tannins, full body. Correctly called it Amarone.

Dark, raisiny, delicious. Not much acid, but tannins are heavily available.

Even after you smell those big tawny port style raisinated fruits and Tootsie rolls, this wine still surprises you on that first sip. Acidity drives big, ripe, raisins onto the tongue as the wine shows off some lovely organic earth and fruity cocoa. The whole experience is a little boozy though, hard to hide that 16%! Paired up with some tangy bbq for one of my favorite pairings to date.

This is a big boy! I’m definitely okay with a high alcohol wine, but this amarone is having a hard time hiding its 16% abv. That being said, wow. Tilled organic earth and compost mark the edges of a wine bursting with dried fruit (craisins, raisins and currants), chocolate (tootsie rolls especially) and subtle herbs (mint, tobacco). They resonate like a port would, but with cherry bright acidity and enough structure to back up a BBQ. And you’re going to be drunk at the end.
