2008 - Heavy and heated! Tobacco and vanilla spice, and fresh ground espresso on the nose and dark luscious cherries, black liquorice, black tea, and pepper spice on the pallet, wrapped in a beautifully dry tannin perfect for food pairing as well!

Decanted ~1.5 hrs. Nose has mentholy stewed red fruits. Fruit has receded a bit on the palette but still some fruit. Tannins integrated somewhat but still present and high alcohol is a little out of balance. Oaky finish. Still, overall very enjoyable and went great with Osso Buco and heirloom tomato blue cheese salad. Prob could last longer but alas this is last bottle.

Aug 19th, 2019Was given a case (well almost- 2 bottles were already consumed) for Christmas last year (2014) and have 4 left. This is a beautiful food friendly hearty wine. Does take some time to open up and an hour or so decant seems to bring out more of the spiciness and fruit flavors.
