Two Angels
Red Hills Petite Sirah
A very enjoyable Petite Sirah from lake county, California.
Dark ruby in color and medium plus in body with medium plus acidity.
Fruit forward with black fruits and chocolate notes, vegetables, bitter herbs, olives and black pepper.
Nice finish with fine grained tannins, tangy raspberries and bitter vegetables. A little bitter on the ending.
Might be better in a year or two when much of the bitter notes will hopefully be gone.
14.3% alcohol by volume.
88 points.

This wine is so purple it’s just about black. The nose is amazing - so full of smoked meat and black olives you'd think you were in a deli. Forest floor plays in, as do blackberry and blueberry notes. The palate matches those descriptors with maybe a little more of that dark fruit showing, but it's still a savory treat. The tannins work well but don't get in the way of the sip. Bring in the meats, or pair with some blue cheese.

May 21st, 2022Don’t do much Petite Sirah, probably because there aren’t many made, but this one was good as well as something a bit different from a cab.
