Turnbull Wine Cellars
Fortuna Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Premiere Napa Valley
life is surprising as usual.
less then a week after a great cheapo napa Merlot i meet a super expensive napa blend.
a friend got it from her parents, opened up and drank some, and it wasn't to her liking.
so she offered the half bottle left over to that guy 'who's really into wine'. i saw a pic and hurried up to take it straight after work.
from my understanding this was sold on the 'premiere napa auction ' in 2013 and probably bought in a shop later on.
from the premiere website:
' for premiere napa valley, we offer this single-vineyard wine made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Petit Verdot and Merlot, all tightly planted on this slope of shattered rock high on the eastern flank of Oakville'
14.5% ABV
deep garnet 👀
started fruity as hell with mostly ripe raspberry and cranberry sauce. but oak spices and some earth and tobacco followed and set the tone after a while. lovely pronounced👃
full body.
high acidity.
medium pleasent tannins.
this is exactly what I expected from a high end napa. crazy complicated fruit varaiety with added spices and some earth. silky and velvety 👄
super long 🎯
this is excellent. not my fave type of wine, but still excellent.
terrible vfm (more then 200$ probably).
but if money is not an issue, get a case or two.
i think it hasn't reached it's peak yet.
wasn't hungry but tried it with a few cheeses for the sake of trying. Camembert style, yellow goat cheese with cumin and some smoked yellow cheese all benefited from this fruit bomb.
