The White Coat San Luis Obispo County White Rhone Blend

Could easily go another 10 years.

I was more into this than others were. Getting on in years, but plenty of interest if you are into older whites.

Deep golden hue. Nutty and honeyed. No signs of oxidation. Actually got better on the second day open.

Definitely on the downslope of its lifespan, but still very much alive and quite complex.

What an amazjng texture. Rhone throughout, wish there was more of this.

Honey, almonds and butterscotch. At least 5 years left.

This is a very nice white Rhone blend from the masters of old vine Zins and petite syrahs. It’s rich and round without the oaky heaviness of a California chardonnay (thanks Roussane) with nice floral notes and enough acidity to be lively. It is not from San Luis Obispo but blends from sites in Napa, Amador and Paso Robles. UPDATE: bottle opened 8/23 was very good with notes of apples, minerals and saline along with florals and a touch of honey.

Almond paste, apricot and vanilla on the nose. Lychee, peaches and cantaloupe notes. Mid-weight wine with some nice heft and a mouth watering finish. In a terrific place right now.
