Annual Fall seclusion at our cabin in the Rangeley lakes region of Maine.
(Notes this year were avoided, but scores are honest.)
This Lodi didn't hold well 🤷🏻♂️

May 15th, 2023We thought this wine might have been past its prime, so we took it off the shelf and popped it open. This is RIGHT ON, RIGHT NOW! Drinking gorgeously right now! Grape tomatoes and homemade strawberry rhubarb jam, cinnamon.

Deep transparent ruby, with a musty perfume of ripe red and purple fruits, raisins, fruit leather, a little balsamic note and allspice. Fruit on the palate is stewed but vibrant, with some orange peel bitterness adding complexity on the finish. Decanted off sediment, but didn’t need any time to air.. very delicate and aromatically open at this point.

Fruit forward with raspberry, anise and black pepper filling the palate. Light to medium-bodied. Still pretty hot with a slight burn on the aftertaste (15.2%).
