Velvety vamvakada, this tastes like the wild blueberries I picked last weekend, more savory than sweet, and a little spicy. Wish I was in Cyprus again, eating snails and drinking this on a high, cool hill.

Aug 10th, 2016Fun, surprising, a bit adventurous. Wild blueberries, sour cherry, herbal notes. Oak, pepper. As another reviewer noted, more savory than sweet. I don’t recall having many, if any, wines from Cypress before. I’m inspired to try more.

Don’t drink many (really if any?) Cypriot wine. Pleasant surprise and a new grape. So cherries. Oak. And spices.

Native Cypriot red wine grape from the (IMHO) best winery in Cyprus. Beautiful fruity nose of blueberries, and herbs. Bright and fruity in the mouth, currants and spice. Good acid, strong tannins. Medium long finish. In Cyprus this bottle is under €15. Buy a case. DAY 2 - rounder and just better. Really a great wine.

Сушеная слива, джемово, сладкий ликер, уваренная в варенье смородина. Полно, мягенько, округло, очень нежно. Послевкусие йогурт с клубникой, хьюмидор и сухофрукты. Очень хорошо!

Vamvakada is Maratheftiko its pain in the a-s-s to grow since it's not hermaphrodite, although with the proper care and attention, not much oak and time in the bottle (5-6 years) it's amazing..... With deep ruby color, black fruit, soft tannins (granted you aged it) soft spicy character, with a key attribute her sexy and elegant acidity, herbal, leather, mushrooms and hints of truffles.... It's a full body, well structure vino that has a few more years.
