So here’s how we celebrated International #ChampagneDay yesterday! We bought this Champagne Tsarine Cuvée Premium for $50 from Dan Murphy’s.
It is from the champagne house Chanoine Frères which is the one of the oldest champagne houses. It was founded in Reims in 1730! Today it is led by one of the first, and few, female winemakers in Champagne, Isabelle Tellier.
The design of the bottle is Russian inspired and dates back to when the Chanoine brothers travelled to the Russian Imperial courts to try to sell their wines – and after many months, Elisabeth the First, Tsarine of Russia, tasted and bought the first bottles
We enjoyed it with cured meat as an aperitif and it didn’t go down too bad at all + was friendly on the bank account.
In the glass it has a golden sheen to it. On the nose it made me think of freshly cut apples and pears with some crackers on the side and a sprinkling of white pepper. In the mouth it has plentiful effervescence and juicy orchard fruit flavours with refreshing citrus notes. Very dry style of champagne 🍾

Really good with no bitterness or saltiness that can come with bubbles. Best Champagne I've had.
