The nose was dark with smoky minerals, dried orange, and exotic spices, giving way to crushed cherry, with hints of floral undergrowth. On the palate, I found energetic textures with zesty spiced cherry and raspberry, hints of orange zest, ginger and peppery spice. The finish was long and lively with saturating red fruits, mint and lingering minerals.

Good effort but feels almost more nebbiolo than nerello. Small red fruit and cherry, rose petals, some minerality, very firm tannins.

The first Etna Rosso I’ve ever had and it was a great introduction. Definitely had a dry mouth feel, but a fantastic nose of strawberry, acid and hint of smoke. The flavor was an interesting combination of light, delicate some tobacco and berry. I’m looking for wine grapes I’ve never tasted and the Nerello Mascalese was a nice find.

Super earthy and some sour cherry notes. Hints of marmalade and cinnamon. 2016 is still processing. Will continue to improve.
