Tor Wines
Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
There are worse ways to start a Saturday then tasting & talking wine with Tor Kenward & Andy Beskstoffer having the 1980 BV George Latour Private Reserve & multiple vintages of Tor. Wine 94 technically but age & style 9.6. The experience a 10.
The 21 is as good as advertised. This will be unbelievable in 10 years and beyond. Enjoyable today but worth waiting.
Dark, perfectly ripe currants & cassis. Dark chocolate & spice, volcanics, dry tobacco & leather, stones, forest floor with leaves, moist clay, dark withering florals, near perfect acidity, well tensioned, structured, nice balance and a finish that lingers grit and land on perfect minerality.
Andy Beckstoffer sold fruit for $150 a ton in the late 1970’s, early 80’s. Today, $50,000 plus a ton and a percentage of the producers bottle price.

Typical 2012 vintage. Very good. Ripe good fruit but lacks some depth.

This will be so much better in a few years but the wine is already firing on all cylinders.
