Thorn-Clarke
Terra Barossa Cabernet Sauvignon
As tomorrow is International Cabernet Sauvignon day let's start celebrating early.
This is a nice Cabernet Sauvignon from Australia.
Showing black fruits with earth, vegetables, spices, tobacco leaf and peppercorn.
Medium bodied with medium plus acidity.
Still young and would be better in a couple of years.
Still out of balance and a little bitter at the ending. A good food wine to pair with BBQ Meats.
A good everyday wine. Needs an hour to open up properly.
14.5% alcohol by volume.
87 Points.
$19.

It is Friday again and I feel like trying something different. I have stayed away from Aussie wines because of bad experiences once had. I picked this Cabernet up the other day to give it another shot. You know, never say never. So I am not. The nose on this wine is of good dark fruit, blackberry, black plum, vanilla, caramelized flan and smokey oak. On the palate I get a medium mouth feel, blackberries, blueberries, and there is a slight sweetness on the front end. There are medium tannins and medium finish. If you are all about a big robust cab, this is not for you. If you like a medium bodied with a good smooth mouth feel that drinks well now this is it. Not a bad bottle by any means. Oh and by the way this is a screw cap.

Jul 18th, 2015What wine do you drink with a tornado, heavy rain and potential flash floods? An 07 Cab Sauv from Australia. Definite burnt toast, cherry and some spice on the nose. Definitely decant but still decent without.
