I've heard great things about Riesling coming out of Australia, so I decided to find and try one. Couldn't find one out of Clare Valley, so the warm climate of Edan Valley will have to do! First off, when watching the Somm documentary, one of the MS candidates liked to use the discriptor "fresh tennis balls" or "fresh cut rubber hose". I understand petrol due to TDN, but I can't say I've ever experienced a rubber smell in a white wine... until today, when I sniffed the wine and thought.. hmm, tennis balls... WHAAAAAT. Anywho. The wine was star bright straw yellow exhibiting notes of tennis ball, flint, lemon zest, and green apple skin. The pallet was slightly austere with ample acidity, full of lemon zesty oils, chalk, lime, grapefruit, under ripe peach, followed by a very crisp, bone dry finish. I do believe this one would age well, at least another 5-7 years, and definitely needs time to age a bit before I wanna try another one, unless it is to be paired with dinner. My conclusion is that this wine is a great example to experience the versatility of Riesling.

Some petrol on the nose, lime skin and lime pith and lime zest and even more lime on the palate. The alcohol is hidden well here with some bright acidity and a decently long finish.

Oh my!! I could smell this wine in glass across the room. Hints of ⛽️ with honey and flowers. The palette leaned toward lime and didn’t disappoint. Plenty of acid to carry a refreshing, clean finish

Armed to the teeth with citric acidity, like somebody made a cordial of lime juice and lemon blossom. Enough sweetness up front to balance that cheeky bastard out. This light-medium bodied Riesling courts you with citrus blossom, takes you on a few dates with some lime zest and then sends you home in a taxi with dry orange rind. If that sounds like a good time, then by all means - go right ahead and tell your coworkers about it on Monday.
