free run verdelho is a lovely drop. Would happily drink with or without food.

Shiraz Cabernet blend from the Hunter. Not a great vintage but still managed to produce a decent drop. I had this open over 3 days and everyday was better. Blackberry, black cherry, slight Hunter earth. The alcohol stood out on the nose at first and although it was noticeable on the palate, I don't think it was too distracting.

Delectable Blue

Another terrific wine from Thomas Allen, breaking rules again. With flavours very reminiscent of their flagship “”Alasdair” shiraz, this is a very pleasing wine, but still a little young to show its full potential, needed plenty of breathing time to open up.

Aromas of black cherry and blackcurrants are prominent with a hint of spice. The flavour of cherry continues onto the palette, where it is supported by layers oak and subtle vanilla, along with that alluring Hunter shiraz earthiness.

A very big and bold mouthfeel. Very strong tannins giving a dry finish but with enormous length. Definitely needs more bottle time for those tannins to integrate fully. A very food friendly wine. Those tannins don’t seem so bad when teamed with some nice rich food.

I’m expecting great things from this wine in a few years time. I can’t wait. I think I’ll start the countdown now 8760, 8759, 8758…
