The truth is... there are bottles for special occasions and then there are bottles that are the special occasion. This is unequivocally the latter. A lavish, yet pure expression of mountain fruit. Blackberry compote, crushed graphite, mocha, a forest of herbs and spices, and oh-so savory. Despite the complexity, its focus comes easy. Drinks like it’s in slow motion, which is fortuitous considering the number of layers. The ultra fine tannin is well concealed, and yet present enough to shape its structure for years to come.

Jan 28th, 20182014 Voir Dire. n. an oath taken by jurors to tell the truth. Crisp & clean. Hints of light tobacco and soft corinthian leather with a light fruit finish. Smooth and silky. Great with a hearty meal of slow cooked pot roast and earthy mushroom rice. 👍🏼

Ethereal and huge, graphite and underbrush, charcoal and blackberry, creme de cassis and licorice, grilled meat and cedar, pen ink and pencil shavings, and two of my favorite protagonists in wine, Napa mountain fruit and Thomas Rivers Brown.
Just starting to unfold after a couple hours. Staining purple.
