A Dave Phinney wine = a full throttle/extracted wine. Honestly, I feel like that style works best for zin. (Though I must say, his majority zin blend El Coco from his Crane Assembly label is deliciously elegant). This is an enjoyable jammy, peppery QPR zin that goes well with food or by itself. Blows heat and tastes hot, but wouldn't guess it was almost 16% ABV! Blackberries, licorice, and oak on the nose. Medium body and peppery on the palate, with a rush of blueberries, rhubarb and spice.

Thick and almost syrupy. Drier than previous years, esp on the finish. Plummy, too

11 years old. Good, not great. Still has some power, but also tame if that makes sense. @Alderwood Resort. paired with spaghetti and some Italian sausage.

Lovely deep purple. Tobacco, dark chocolate, cherries, smoke. Very, very solid.

Wow, absolutely perfect. A hint of oak, deep and richly fruity, I'd buy a case if I could or more. Last bottle now. Enjoying it immensely.
