Delicious. Deep ruby purple red with heavy legs on the glass. Powerful nose of ripe plum and black currant with a hint of leather. Wonderful explosion of flavor in the mouth. The vinous equivalent of a Havana cigar. More prune and red fruit on the tongue with leather, cedar and tobacco prominent. A spectacular value. Gentle finish with balanced tannins and salty minerals. Strong and elegant right now.

2016. I love California Petite Sirah that grabs your mouth and says I’m not those grapes...this tastes like processed “those grapes.” “Simple”, “Smooth”, “Not Complex”, are the most used words I’ve seen in reviews. Inoffensive because it’s not too sweet and there’s no alcohol burn. It paired pretty well with rigatoni and meatballs.

Deep Purple in color with a short purple rim.

Strong nose of sweet plums, black currants, wood, cloves, spices, barnyard, pencil lead, black pepper, vegetables and metals.

Full bodied with medium acidity and nice legs.

Dry and fruity on the palate with sweet raspberries, black currants, plums, bell pepper, oak, cloves, black olives, tobacco leaf, earth, bitter herbs, spices and black pepper.

Medium plus in finish with soft tannins and tangy raspberries.

This is an average red wine from Lodi. Simple with a nice, soft mouthfeel. Too bitter for my taste.

Needs an hour to open up properly. I paired it with a cheese plate and crackers.

15% alcohol by volume.

82 points.

$14.

Really strong and balanced. As dry as can be before it’s too much, and bursting with charm.

Drinkable but thin. Nothing spectacular. Fruity but not jammy. A hint of spice.

A whole lot going on. Very bold. Not loving the finish, which is bitter, metallic and almost... salty?
