Dull and cloudy ruby to almost purple, of almost full density. Fairly dense aromas of barley, radish, fennel, blackberry, malt, and currant. Nice presentation on the palate, showing full body creaminess, abundant flavors of wild berries, sage, lots of dark flavors, black currant, blackberry, very dark acidity, primrose, balsamic vinegar, volcanic soil, and a lingering finish of tobacco, white pepper, sun dried tomatoes, and ashes. Colli Senesi is what drew me to this wine, but I must say that is fairly uninteresting and shows very little varietal character. Strong minerality and soil flavors and aromas. 85 pts.
