Beautiful wine from a top vintage. Drinkable now, but definitely still room for ageing. Dark fruit, like black cherries, with notes of leather and cedar. Also still clear green notes, such as paprika and pine needles. Typical San Leonardo style.

Needs quite some time to let go of the reduction and open up. Better on day2 actually!
Nice fresh nose full of plums, dark sweet cherry, a whiff of raspberry freshness, a hint of sweet scented wood and some cool minerality in the backdrop.
Light to medium bodied in the palate with beautiful purity of fruit (damson plums, raspberries) medium tannins that have been polished to velvety smoothness and fresh acidity. Perfectly balanced, poised and quite elegant. And fresh.
You can feel this is a mountain wine.

Mar 25th, 20232022/12. I don’t often buy red Bordeaux-style wines from Italy but make an exception for certain historical estates like this. A great example of a unique combination of variety and place, and a great value. Lovely maturing aromas.

Mar 25th, 20232022/12/25 with roast chateaubriand, etc. the aromas are developing nicely, showing a bit of fame and forest floor to go with dark berry and cedar. On the palate it’s refreshingly bright.
