First produced in the 1987 vintage, aged in oak for about 16 months, deep Ruby with aromas of stewed berry fruits, oak, tar and licorice. On the palate flavors of ripe blackberry and black cherry, mushroom, cacao and leather, soft smooth tannins, showcasing the tertiary profile of this wonderful wine. Long finish ending with stewed fruits and complex spice. Outstanding!

On a whole, the wine was a little austere and a tad thin. This one took a while to get going. Had a crazy amount of stuff oak tannin at first but this settled after an hour. These Tuscans always seem to show a nice mixed bag, but this one goes a bit to the dark and gritty side.

Italian night! 2011 Cabernet and easy to drink. I prefer this more than the 2004, more taste like Cabernet.
