Intense savoury cherry. See previous Delectable note. Vacqueyras - 2nd only to Gigondas for Côtes du Rhône villages. This wine was 70% Grenache (over 60 years old), 15% Syrah (40 years old) and 15% Mourvèdre (40 years old). Tends to be slightly more rustic than Gigondas although this was very satisfying and good QPR. Alcohol a bit high at 14.5%.

Sep 21st, 2024A dark inky crimson in appearance. Nose a little muted initially - needed vigorous swirling even after decanting. On the palate rich black fruits from a ripe vintage - a touch of liquorice. Tasted blind my wife thought it was Australian. A full bodied Grenache based Red 70% (vines over 60 years old) 15% Syrah and 15% Mourvèdre. Finishing with slightly tarry granular tannins. An excellent dry red in a rustic style. 14.5% ABV. Leave the last one for a few years.
