Taltarni
French Syrah

A random auction purchase, with enough age on it to make me worry about its condition. Initially very musty upon opening, with just tertiary characters hitting the nose. But after a good few hours it began to shine: good dark spicy fruit and acid with a solid base of dusty chocolate tannins. Excellent intensity and length. A great find! I'd say now is the time to drink, but it tastes like it still has a future. Turns out Taltarni still sell this vintage from their museum stock. They're definitely doing something right over there!
