Peppery, cherry, not very complex. (Wine Bistro, $25)

This comes across as a more interesting California version of a Cotes du Rhone blend, offering up restrained red fruits, dark spices, and an accent of dried herb in the finish. It's a bit short, but who can complain for $16?

Pair with spicy meal. We had with Cajun ribeye, charred + chili powder cream corn. Ready right out of the bottle and smooooth. Its not complicated like the name and that's a good thing.
