Wow. Dusty, sweet, such pure deep red ripe fruit. Cooked cranberries, granite, spice, lots of energy. Palate is thrilling, palate isn’t quite as complex. A pretty sweetness on the finish but this is so fresh and tart at the same sime. Mature but nowhere near fading.
Finally a cult Cali cab I can get behind!

Opened but not decanted. Initially nose was a bit disjointed and flavors were reserved. About two hours in, nose improved and primary Cabernet flavors emerged somewhat. Overall, tannins resolved with more secondary flavor profile. Smooth. No signs of fading but no reason to wait either.

Second vintage of this wine I’ve tried and think the ‘99 is showing even better than the ‘97. This still has more fruit stuffing and the tertiary flavors have the volume turned up. A fun 🦄
