LUNCH WINE

Reddish in color with medium intensity.

Red fruits on the nose with light oak, tobacco leaf, Indian spices and herbs.

Medium bodied with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with sweet raspberries, cherries, plums, black currants, coffee, oak, licorice, light earth, herbs, peppercorn, garrigue, dark chocolates and black tea.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.

This is a very unique Rhone blend from Paso Robles. Has a Châteauneuf-du-Pape feel to it.

Showing nice complexity with a soft mouthfeel. Elegant and fruit forward. Nicely balanced and interesting.

Very tasty and easy drinking right out of the bottle. Tannins show up after 2 hours in the decanter.

Still young, but already enjoyable, even by itself. Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years. Would be nice to revisit it in 5 years. Has good potential to become a 93+ point wine.

I paired it with grilled Picanha.

A blend of 40% Mourvedre, 28% Grenache, 22% Syrah, 4% Vaccarese, 3% Counoise and 3% Cinsault.

13.5% alcohol by volume.

91 points.

$70.

This wine is drinking beautifully now and while it may last another decade it’s hard to believe it will get any better. Black currant, black tea, strawberry, black cherry, leather, chocolate - it offers a dazzling array of primary and tertiary flavors and aromas. 40% Mourvedre, 30% Grenache, 20% Syrah and 10% Counoise, 14.5% abv

Deep, vivid ruby. Smoke- and spice-accented cherry cola, dark berry and lavender aromas show fine clarity, and licorice and succulent herb notes emerge with aeration. Gently sweet and broad in the mouth, offering appealingly sweet blackberry, cherry preserve, mocha and floral pastille flavors that tighten up through the midpalate. Gently gripping tannins sneak in slowly on an impressively long finish that strongly repeats the spice and floral notes. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, July 2022)

2018 - little young however it is out of a 375ml - concentrated berry/plum -dried strawberry aromas with holiday spice licorice needs time - their wines are subtle but complex

Hard cherry candy that blew off after about an hour decant. It continued to improve from there as layers of red fruit piled on and carried through the finish. It fell slightly hollow in the mid palate where perhaps some additional age might help develop some complexity.

Just at the point where it’s about to turn from primary to secondary. Fruit still ripe, but now well integrated and the tannins have mostly resolved. Present acidity carries through the mid palate and fresh finish.
