This time around, I have to assign a slight decrement as it just is a hair below my 93+ standard. Still great, I just think my agnosticism toward Malbec is ultimately emerging. This Chilean interpretation, however, is unique and complex.

100% Malbec grown at an altitude of 1600 meters in volcanic soil. This is not your average run of the mill South American Malbec. This Chilean wine is richly blueish red in color that streaks the glass with its viscous 14.5 ABV, medium plus body.

The nose is floral, herbal, and spicy. On the palate the pepper leads, accompanied by fresh red fruit, wood and nuts. The tannins are smooth and the finish is long.

This wine is stellar and it is not done improving, as the oak notes will develop into tertiary flavors. I have more that I will save and comment on later. Vive Chile!!!

Really lovely high-altitude Chilean (gasp!) Malbec that @hawk_wakawaka brought to a little gathering yesterday. Phenomenally fresh with bright acidity and notes of mixed berries with a surprising amount of red fruit along with the blue and black. Goes down like silk and the mouth waters for more.
