Cuvée Sylvie Bourgogne Pinot Noir

Too much oak on day one; much better integrated day two. I’d wait 5 years before opening another.

Unfamiliar with the Esmonin wines; bought a couple upon recommendations from a friend. Very surprised by this wine which was, for my palate anyhow, picked too ripe and exposed to too much oak, proffered by Dressner through Chambers St Wines?! Has the world gone mad? Has that telltale nutmeg aroma that dominates domestic pinot noir when überripe fruit interacts with new oak. Yesterday the gods were with me; today...nothing is going right. Blind I'd've bet the farm on Oregon pinot. Sadness.

Sylvie Esmonin Bourgogne "Cuvée Sylvie" 2011. Extraction is excessive for me. Extremely well made and stylish; simply not the style I most enjoy.

Medium dark robe. Dark, brambly, black-fruited nose, hint of earth and anise. Medium-bodied and less extracted than her wines usually show, befitting the vintage. Moderately complex finish for a Bourgogne. Pleasant surprise. Re-buy.

Très belle bouteille digne du millesime 2010 déguste il y a un an

Pas très complexe sur un fruit acide
Moins de chaire que d habitude effet millésime?
