Stolpman Vineyards
L'Avion Ballard Canyon Roussanne
I’m between 93-94 here. I haven’t had one of these with significant age, so I’m curious how they evolve. That being said, this was excellent.
Barrel selection of Stolpman’s best roussanne, blended with a kiss of Chardonnay (7%). Removed cork and let breathe for 30mins before consuming from bottle over the next two days.
This is incredibly concentrated but with a shockingly balanced acidity profile. Golden in the glass. The glass jumps at you with tropical yellow fruit, honeycomb, orange marmalade and roasted macadamia nuts. A bit oily initially but the finish has such vibrant and very acidity to snap this back sporting truffle honey and ginger. Excellent. Need to find more.

Loaded w tropical fruits. Rich and ripe palate.

Mar 11th, 2016Interesting wine. First tastes have the oak coming through strong, then it diminishes with following tastes to allow a more fruity taste. A subtle, changing wine that I want to try again
