Napa Valley Merlot
Now fully mature - perhaps past itβs best but still vibrant, deep plum, sweet pipe tobacco notes, coffee beans, vaguely oxidized in a positive way. Soft impact in the mouth, relaxed tannins, very drinkable

Aug 7th, 2019It's time for #MerlotThursday isn't it? π
This Napa Merlot is always dependable. Still drinking nicely, especially with the charcuterie board I paired it with.
Showing black fruits with light cedar, chocolates and light earth notes.
Medium plus in body with mediqum acidity and nice legs. A very enjoyable mouthfeel with nice complexity and a tangy finish.
Benefits from 30 minutes of airtime, but good right out of the bottle, if you are in a hurry π
14.5% alcohol by volume.

This Napa Merlot is a great wine. Well balanced with mild complexity. The mouthfeel is a bit disappointing as it is weaker than I expected. Showing lots of chocolate, cola and coffee notes. A teeth staining wine. Rich, extracted and jammy.
This 5 year old is peaking now and it won't last long, so drink it now if you have any.
Good right out of the bottle, but needed 30 minutes in a decanter to open up properly and show some tannins.

I actually expected more from it, as to tannins and mouthfeel, but it was very easy to drink. A good party wine and very tasty.
Good right out of the bottle and better as it opens up. Very easy drinking for all that alcohol, so watch out...

Carolyn gave me the bottle to drink. Her and Joleen didn't like it. It was pretty damn good.
