Erdener Treppchen Spätlese Riesling
Pretty great stuff for 25$ a bottle. Wish I could bring myself to invest more in these sweeter German Rieslings. The problem (for me, at least): I only love them with spicy food; but I also think spicy foods can blunt their complexity.

Oct 12th, 2015Far not the best representative of Riesling Kabinett. Starts with deceiving tropical fruity storm on the nose with sweet nectarine breeze, which dissolves in 20 minutes and leaves you with salt and wax aroma caused by rich minerality. Noticed a huge hint of linoleum (ewww). Palate patiently expected somewhat close to eye shrinking acidity, but instead got a sweet apple, ripe nectarine and pineapple fart that was immediately cut after swallowing. This wine is very aromatic, short and needs a slight butt kick to be called balanced.
