Stefano Lubiana
Tasmania Merlot
2008 vintage. Merlot. On the nose, initial impression is of greenness and potential faults. Unlikely to be corked as its screw cap. Vegetal, underripe plum. On the palate, performs much better. Some nice complexity and a silky texture. Integrated alcohol and medium soft tannins. There's some intensity of flavour - riper plum, vanilla essence, oak wood, a sweetness that hits the back of the palate. Medium plus finish. Shame about the nose. But enjoy drinking this nonetheless.
