Standing Stone Vineyards
Seneca Lake Riesling
Seneca Lake, Finger Lakes, New York, USA

@Delectable Wine - This is their “off-dry” Seneca Lake Riesling. But it’s just straight-up sweet. Waves of honeyed, pure peach and apple fruit in the nose, with a bit of stony, moist earth scents. Auslese+ levels of sweetness, though the acids are much less forceful than its German counterpart. I love the purity of fruit but with this level of sweetness and the low acids, it’s better suited as a dessert tipple than an aperitif or dinner wine.

Dec 1st, 2024Very good. Rich and full with a nice zip to the finish. Off dry so some RS. Tropical fruit. Well made wine. Maybe this winery is back on track.

May 9th, 2021Pale yellow green in the glass with a fragrant and concentrated nose of yellow apple, citrus zest and stone. Mouth filling on the palate with flavors of ripe apricot, pineapple and wildflower honey with slightly grassy notes. Just enough acidity to keep it from being flabby.
