S.L.V. Estate Grown Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Backyard pre-Fourth BBQ with friends. Medium complexity. Leather and spice. 2010 was 13 years - very smooth. Paired really well with rare and medium rare steaks and a goat cheese spinach salad with bacon and pistachios.

Happy Cabernet day! Right in its drinking window but no rush. There is a nice violet floral type aroma now. Big lush dark fruit, smoke, slate, and spice.

Still has years to go, but drinking great right now. So balanced. Great new world cab. Why wait?

Showy wine, would drink now. Perhaps a tad too much oak, but fantastic nonetheless

Very well balanced. Full body. Decanted for 2+ hours. Smooth.

I bet the frenchies would have a hard time measuring up to this one blind as well.

granted 2010 was definitely not a great year for Napa and this SLV shows it all. Complex, layered as expected by a SL wine, but with a harsh and unbalanced finish. It needs to age a few more years.
