Dirty purple in color with a purplish rim.

Pronounced nose of blackberries, cherries, alcohol, oak, vanilla, diet cola, spices, cloves, chocolate, some barnyard and lots of peppercorn.

Medium plus in body with medium plus acidity and great long legs.

Dry on the palate with blackberries, plums, cherries, strawberries, currants, oak, cloves, cola, oak, vanilla, earth, dirt, spices, green vegetables and black pepper.

Long finish with nice, smooth tannins (but noticeable), and bitter almonds.

This is a Nice Zinfandel. Drinks well by itself or with food. Lacking some balance and has some bitterness at the ending.

Zinfandel and Petite Sirah, hand picked grapes, from 50-100 years old vines in Sonoma County.

Aged for 16 months in 100% French Oak barrels.

15.2% alcohol by volume.

84 PTS - I was a little underwhelmed by the lack of acidity and focus in this generously fruited 2012 bottling. Perhaps the focus is a Gallo-like charm of likability but it's high RS is a little too much for me. Candied fruit, jam, wood, it is Zinfandel had its lowest common denominator. I'm sure the focus is on value; priced under $14 at costco - but not too impressed

Notes of berry, oak and vanilla...a bit tanning first sip...give it 30mins to open up then its nice and balanced with a decent amount of flavor

Moderately opaque reddish purple in the glass. Raspberry, cranberry, and hints of vanilla on the nose. Feels relatively light and fruity on the palate despite 15% alcohol with mixed berries, medium acidity, little discernible tannin, and a spicy finish. Varietal Zinfandel with a bit of Petit Sirah.

Toasting the fall of the republic with this nice, spritely Malbec. Might as well fiddle while Rome burns, mm? L'chaim. Wish us all luck.
